My Shih tzu is 1.5 yr is sick and I don’t know what to do?
My Shih tzu was full of life this morning after we went for a walk, we played a little bit and while he slid acrossthe hardwood floors chasing after a ball he hit his body against the wall. He seemed fine immediatley after and then I realized later he was sleeping way too much, he got up and was limping a lot. I took him out to go for a walk to go potty and seemed fine, no limping. He didn’t want to eat, drink and now he is having a hard time breathing like he has a cold. I gave him his meaty treats he loves and thankfully he ate them, and had to feed him water with a bottle. He is snorting and snoring more than usual, he is stuffed up, and really lethargic. I don’t know what to do, if its a common cold dogs get or what. I will be taking him to the vet tomorrow, but should I take him tonight?
I have two small dogs as well; and with such small breeds hitting the wall could have really done some damage. Due to him being really out of it I would take him to the vet tonight.
Don’t wait take him now and hopefully whatever it is will not be serious. I will pray for him – Good Luck.
Snoring is not just a nuisance for your bedmate (or, in extreme cases, for your neighbor). It can be a sign of a serious medical disorder called sleep apnea. The first issue to address regarding chronic snoring is whether this is a symptom of sleep apnea.
Use a single low pillow. Sleeping on too many pillows can stretch and narrow the nasal passage. If, however, you are congested, elevate the head by placing books under the mattress to encourage better drainage.
Try to sleep on your stomach, since snoring is less likely to occur in this position. You can buy anti-snoring pillows designed to keep snorers on their side while asleep
Adopt a healthy lifestyle. Extra weight, smoking, alcohol and drugs all exacerbate snoring.
Review your meds. Sleeping pills, antihistamines and other medications increase snoring.
Consult your doctor if you suspect that allergies and nasal congestion may be causing the problem. Make sure your allergy medication is antihistamine free.
Try an over-the-counter nasal strip. These strips may widen the nasal passages and decrease congestion to reduce snoring.
Ask your dentist about using an oral appliance designed to reduce snoring.
tonsils and adenoids removed but breathing still sounds like a light snore?
My son has had a constant runny nose since birth and had various infections of tonsilitus and sore throats at age of 3 he had his tonsils and adenoids removed. I was told this would help his snoring and he would nolonger feel congested although since this operation there has been no difference his day time breathing sounds like a light snore and at night time hes as loud as before the operation. Constant trips to doctors and im told he has rhinitis and a steriod spray should help although no difference and have been told he has allergies although he gets no relief from antihistamines. What could be the problem causing this? would further investigation from ENT reveal something other than an allergy. His nasal passages are very slim and i remember when he was born his nose was bent slightly though has straightend out since.
he had surgery 29/2/09
How long ago was the surgery? It’s normal for about a month after the operation.

has anyone ever had the throat operation to correct snoring problems?
There are several kinds of throat surgery. The simplest and safest is called Somnoplasty, or radiofrequency ablsation. It scars the tissues and makes them tighter. I had that and it was pretty easy – no pain to speak of.
There are two other kinds – one is called laser uvulopalatoplasty – they use a laser to burn off excess tissue. It is supposed to hurt for a while.
The final kind is the old-fashioned scalpel based uvulopalatoplasty, which has a reputation for being pretty painful and also sometimes redirecting food into your soft palate and out your nose – no kidding.
I would stick with Somnoplasty and use the CPAP machine or get an oral appliance.
how can snoring problems be fixed with out surgery?
There’s a good nasal spray your doctor can prescribe made for snoring. Might be worth a try. Otherwise, one of the most common causes of snoring is being overweight, even by just a few pounds.
I eat late b/c i work for 14 hours a day but my job is not stresful . i sit in a shop as a casier
No. Take a look at the link provided for more information on snoring.
Snoring is the act of breathing through the open mouth in such a way as to cause a vibration of the uvula and soft palate, thus giving rise to a sound which may vary from a soft noise to a loud unpleasant sound. This most commonly occurs during sleep.
The cause of snoring is some kind of blockage in the breathing passage. Those blockages can be of many kinds—here are just a few:
Tongue falling into the throat
Allergies
Throat weakness causing the throat to close during sleep
Mispositioned jaw, often caused by tension in muscles
Fat gathering in, and around, the throat

I would like some feedback from people who have had or are close to others who have had surgeries for snoring treatment.
Please tell me which surgery was done and whether it was effective, short term and long term. Please add anything else related to the surgery that you wish to provide.
No “See a doctor.” or “Try natural medicine first.” comments. I am only researching experiences to surgeries to snoring. Thanks!
I personally never had such surgery, but I have come accross
a blog post telling about snoring surgery experience.
He had throat surgery. He even posted pictures there.
