dog snoring surgery

Dog shivering as waking up from anesthesia, she is 15 years old?
Hi, my dog got into surgery today it was complicated but the vet said it was successful, when we saw her she was still sleeping but shivering & trembling a lot, the doctor says it’s ok since she is waking up from the surgery, she was also snoring a lil bit. Her reflects are ok, she responded when the doctor pulled her leg a bit, he says its ok for her to be trembling because she must be cold, he heated the room and covered her with a blanket. I am still concerned about the shivering since I can’t find anywhere that it’s normal for a dog to shiver while waking up from anesthesia, if there are any vets out there can you please let me know? Thanks.
Thank you very much, she is totally stable now but still at the vets clinic just in case. All the answers were so good it’s going to be hard to choose just one as best answer. Thanks a lot!
thats totally normal.
its normal for animals and humans.
there are 2 reasons for the shivering/trembling.
one reason is cuz the operating room is quite chilly so animals/humans get cold.
the second reason is do to the anesthesia drugs wearing off.
i’m not sure if they do this for animals but for humans at least i know they typically give the patient demerol (a drug) that stops the shaking.
i am allergic to demeral so they can’t give it to me so i shake A LOT when i wake up form anesthesia.
