Stop Snoring Now!

How did the letter z come to represent sleep?

in cartoons its always zzzzzzz. snoring doesnt sound anything like zzzzzzz. so why z?

I looked this up too, a long time ago… It has to do with comic strips and the little cloud balloon.
They would put zzzzzzz!!!! to represent snoring.

Didn’t make sense to me either, but if you think about it; what letter or word would be better for a snoring sound? None really…
