loud snoring dangerous
How dangerous is it to have my pugs nose clipped?
She is about 2 and she is very active and seems to have no real problems except keeping me up at nite due to her loud snoring. one vet told us from the beginning to get this done while just recently another vet told us they dont do the clip cause its far too dangerous and the key is to keep her from being over weight. now im confused on what i should do for her, i am now wondering what makes it so dangerous and why our first vet never mentioned this before?
what exactly r the dangers to getting this done? she is very active but we have 2 other dogs that r lab and terrier mixes and she can play with them for a long time but after awhile it sounds like shes gonna pass out. if i dont get this doen will it lead to problems as she ages?
It’s not a routine sx and shouldn’t be taken lightly. Besides, it’s not a guarantee.
Pugs and other short nosed dogs (like the bull dog and Boston Terriers) are prone to this.
The only way to determine if your Pug has an elongated palette is to put it under anesthesia and have the vet examine it. Trimming the palate, to correct this problem, is a major surgical procedure.
