open mouth snoring

What is this gunk in my mouth?
I brush my teeth and floss regularly. However, I often have clogged nasal passages and end up sleeping with my mouth open (which leads to a lot of fun drooling and snoring… charming). Occasionally I end up with this really thick pasty stuff that is either whitish or brownish on the roof of my mouth when I wake up that I need to scrape off with my finger or toothbrush. What the heck is it?
Your mouth continually produces saliva and mucus – to help you chew up and swallow food.
You do this at night also, when you swallow less frequently.
The gunk is dried mouth mucus – and is one of the reasons many of us have ‘morning breath’.
