snoring menopause

why does ambien make me feel drunk?

I take Ambien to sleep at night. I’m a 50 year old woman in peri-menopause and have not slept well for a few years now. Part of it was due to severe muscle pain from fybromyalgia like symptoms and part because my husband snores like a chain saw. The Ambien works GREAT, but why does it make me feel drunk right before it sends me off to dream land. I say the stupidest things to my kids when they come to kiss me good night, or if I’m posting on facebook, sometimes I’m shocked the next morning by what I’ve said and have no memory of having said it. Are Roofies incorporated into this drug?

Be careful with Ambien!!! It causes people to go into weird hypnotic-like states of walking and even DRIVING while being asleep (but appearing to be awake) and then the people having no memory of it happening. The FDA issued a warning in 2007 about Ambien and drugs like it citing “complex sleep-related behaviors” such as making phone calls, walking, driving and having sex while being asleep. My mother-in-law used to take Ambien until she found out she went for a three-hour walk, barefoot in her pajamas one night. She had no recollection of it, she found out from the neighbors!
