humidifiers snoring
3 week newborn health question?
i have a 3 week old, first baby and she seems to have a lot of mucous or something in her nose, the pediatrician said it was normal but that was a week ago and it’s a navy doctor and from my experience they really aren’t very thorough at times- it’s only at night and i think it’s because we just turned on the heater but you can hear some light snoring from her and her nose whistles and you can hear a little congestion- she isn’t fussy from it and it doesn’t seem to disturb her sleep and it’s only at night- i was trying to find some eucalyptus tabs to put in a humidifier but are there any more suggestions or is this a normal thing like the pediatrician said? since she is so young i would rather keep it to a natural remedy
First, all you need is a cool mist humidifier, nothing added to it, just cool tap water. Second, saline drops, two in each nostril, one at a time than use a bulb syringe to remove the mucus, very gently, you don’t have to place the bulb too far in to suck out the junk. Saline drops are safe and there are some specifically for a baby. I am surprised the Drs office does’t have any pre made on hand. It is normal, as long as the congestion is just in the nose. She will breathe easier and sound better the more you get out.
My 5th child had it terrible, so bad I had to take her to the ER where the nurse had to use a mini tube to get the mucus out. If after a couple days, and she is still having this issue, she does have to be seen, it is normal to get this way when we turn on the heat but sometimes this could also be a sign of a virus.
Also, you may want to consider a new Dr, a pediatrician or Family Dr. Good luck! I have 6 but a new baby even w my experience, made me a nervous wreck! Also, make sure her temperature is normal ..
